So…. Hobbies. Ugh. Don’t get me wrong. I love the concept, just not the actual doing. In this modern day and age, hobbies have become something to monetize instead of just something to do for fun. I mean look at me, I’m trying to write a blog based around it.
All jokes aside, hobbies have turned into something else, something darker, something more complicated: a side hustle.
Conversely, since the globally (in)famous pandemic, I feel that people found the joy of having a hobby once again. Don’t get me wrong, the pandemic was a horrible thing that happened/is happening. People lost their jobs, people died, the whole world was turned upside down. But in the chaos, almost out of survival, we all started to turn to baking, exercise, art, etc., just ask every grocery store or any exercise equipment company.
However, I was left behind in the age of “Pastime Paradise”. At the height of the pandemic, I (thankfully) was working two jobs and did not revitalize my own love for art, cooking, photography, and other things I used to love to do when I was a kid.
So, this is my mission: to cultivate a healthy slew of hobbies that ultimately, hopefully help me to find meaning in a world that can feel so bleak sometimes. Hobbies are healthy, they remind us how to be a kid again, and what it means to relax.
